Protesting with kids & dogs

A lot of the more active protesters think bringing your kids or dogs to a protest is irresponsible.


I think it depends.


You need to keep in mind:

  • the setting

  • the organizers

  • the time of day

  • the topic


There is a way to protest safely with little ones while teaching them about civil discourse and why it's important to stand up for the things you believe in.


As far as doggies, that depends on even more factors. They're a lot closer to the ground, so more likely to get pushed around in the crowd. They are also more affected by the hot weather and heated pavement. In general, I would recommend not bringing your dog unless you plan to stick to the outskirts of the protest, stay in the shade and be tuned into their vibe.
