Protests for all experience levels

This is a list of the more regular protests. You can find a wider variety in the links above.

Tip: Make sure you look at who the sponsors are for any upcoming protest to get a better idea of what level of experience it might be.

  • National Park protests – tend to be hippy and friendly. Room to have a chair on the side of the road if you tire easily. No counter-protester presence other than a few negative gestures from drivers. Low police presence.

  • 50501 protests – these are larger and more like protests you see on tv, so more likely to attract counter-protesters. They are explicit about being inclusive of all issues. Moderate police presence.

  • All Out for Gaza & ICE Out - these have a few different names but will clearly post that they are focused on these specific issues. The protests sometimes follow the larger 50501 protests but also have stand alone events. If they start after 50501, they will often start toward the end of the day and include protesters who are more experienced and knowledgeable about the issues. Usually, not appropriate for beginners. More likely to have counter-protesters and have had the heaviest police presence (incl. "riot" police w/tear gas).

  • Stand Up for Science – in person protests are mostly adults. Low police presence. Low counter-protester presence. Online petition signing as well.

  • Tesla Takedown protests – mostly adults. On the side of busy road. Could have chair but could be asked to move as this is on sidewalks. Possible threat of angry drivers. Medium police presence mostly focused on protecting the Tesla dealership.

  • Overpass protests - these are really beginner-friendly and so much fun getting the cars to honk! Little to no counterprotesters and police presence (depending on location) - safe space to be mask-free (just make sure your fellow protesters don't take photos of you). Usually space for chair/stool for mobility concerns. Pay attention to the location to find out if it's a covered pedestrian bridge for extra protection from the elements. No need to bring protest signs as those are already provided. Pompoms could be fun!

  • Protest with your wallet

  • Protest from your phone

    • 5 Calls provides contact numbers & scripts to reach out to your elected officials on a variety of topics (super easy!)

    • ICEBlock lets you share info on immigration raids as they happen (the app has warned to only download from Apple as there have been fake downloads posted elsewhere).

  • Protest with your vote - you might not have a ton of faith in the system but voting is a right you should exercise every chance you get.

  • Colorado-specific

    • List of Colorado Organizations - Here's a cool crowdsourced list of organizations that either recently attended a 50501 event or are regular co-sponsors of events. Not exhaustive.

    • Ukraine rallies – very kid friendly & good for inexperienced protesters. Low police presence. Low counter-protester presence.
